Wags & Brags for 2008

Cheryl Ingwersen and Rook got their first High in Trial (196 in Open). Congrats to Cheryl and Rook. Nice work!
Click to enlarge Brinkley Falchuk qualified for his last leg and earned his CD. For good measure he qualified in the second trial as well. Congrats to Brinkley and Sol on a job well done. Looking forward to working with the team towards their CDX.
Click to enlarge Jen Cameron and Hayley took the puppy group at Kingston dogshow. What an accomplishment owner handled to Puppy group, congrats to Jen and Hayley.
Keefer Keeshonden rock at Rally! Richard and Leo finished their Rally Novice on June 1st at the Swansea Dog Trials with scores of 95 and 99, and Sarah and Ali got their first two legs of their Rally Advanced with a first place win (98) and a fourth place (99) there as well. Then they finished the Rally Advanced title at Orono, out on the grass which isn't Ali's strong point! We're very pleased with our Rally Boys!

It is with great pride we announce that Sylvia Reeve and Piper have obtained their Utility title at Ontario County Kennel club dog show June 2008. Congratulations on a job well done. Sylvia worked hard to achieve and complete this level with Piper. Kawartha Canine shouts out a big Yahoooooooo.
Click to enlarge Lizzie finished her Canadian championship at 10 months of age, in four shows with a Best of Breed, Best Puppy, and a Best Puppy in Group. We are thrilled with this, Lizzie is our first homebred Erinisle bitch. We are looking forward to future shows. Special thanks to my friends and Lizzie’s handlers, Deanna Ross and Murray Spearin, for all their help and patience with Lizzie and me. This would not have been possible without their mentoring and help. I am truly grateful.
It's official - Sky (MOTCH Wimberway's Evening Sky) is the #5 Obedience Dog in Canada for 2007. Sky is #2 Retriever (Group 1 - Retrievers) - the only dog of a different breed and colour in a field of Goldens, and, of course, #1 Labrador Retriever. Sky and Dale will be featured in the Top Obedience Dogs section of the July issue of Canine Review (sold through Chapters online). Congratulations from the Kawartha Canine family and friends.
Sylvia Reeve and Pyper earned a Rally Excellent at the PADOC trials April 4th, 2008 with a third place score of 94. Kawartha Canine says Yahoo and congrats to the team.
Jonnelle Flatt and Monty got their Rally Novice title, so lets shout out a big hurray! Monty got second place honors too!
MOTCH Wimberway’s Evening Sky (Labrador Retriever) won the High in Trial at the Victoria County Kennel Club obedience trial on Saturday, April 26. 196 in Open B. Admaka’s Headliner (Miniature Poodle) won High in Trial at the Victoria County Kennel Club obedience trial on Sunday, April 27. 196 in Novice B. Six years ago, OTCH Canada Gus won High in Trial on Saturday and Sunday at the VCKC obdience trials. So my younger dogs are just carrying on the tradition set by my wonderful old Aussie. Canine Review has just posted their yearend standings for Obedience in Canada for 2007. MOTCH Wimberway's Evening Sky (my little cancer survivor) is the # FIVE dog in Canada - All Breeds. Sky is also #THREE Retriever (Group 1). And #ONE Labrador Retriever. BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL! - Dale Canning..
Rita Jones and her young Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Timber, earned their CD with scores of 187, 187 and 189½.

Click to enlarge Nygel received 9 points toward his Championship title this past weekend. One more to go and then we can call him "Champion". In our minds, he IS a Champion after winning Best of Breed, Best Puppy in Breed and then Best Puppy in the Sporting Group on Saturday. The picture includes his wonderful handler, Graeme Burdon, and Nyg's favourite judge, Dr. Gerard Penta from Pennsylvania.
Click to enlarge Roxy and Cadence attended their first NAMBR trial and received a qualifying score of 185.5, High in Class, Highest Scoring Mixed Breed in Trial, and her first leg towards her CD (companion dog title). Way to go Roxy and Cadence, we are all proud of you! Kawartha Canine is proud to announce that Cadence will be assisting with classes, she is a great asset and we are fortunate to have her.

Click to enlarge Tam takes Group Second at the Ottawa Show of Shows! My thanks go out to first, Bill and Janice Cunningham for producing such a beautiful, well balanced, sweet natured boy. I would also like to say thanks for letting us share in the joy of co-owning such a marvelous dog, "Waverleyglen's Tam O'Shanter". Next my thanks to Deanna Ross and Murray Spearin, professional handlers. Not only are they the people who I trust my four legged companions with, but they are also our dearest friends and supporters. I send special thanks to Deanna for helping me every step of the way with all my Wheatens, you are a special friend. To all the judges who recognized a quality dog and made it possible for us to get to this point. Show of Show judges thanks for you time and consideration, you all did a marvelous job. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and we look forward to a return engagment in the future. And last but not least, all our dear doggy friends and family who have supported us throughout this process, thanks so very much.
Click to enlarge MOTCH Wimberway's Evening Sky, earned her first leg towards her Grand Master Obedience Trial Championship on Sunday, November 25, 2007 in Georgetown, Ontario at the Caledon Kennel Association trials. Sky qualifed in all 4 trials she entered. Under judge Marguerite Charter, Sky earned 194 in Open and 197 in Utility. Under judge Betty McHugh, Sky earned 198 in Open and 196.5 in Utility. And Sky was the highest qualifying Labrador Retriever, too!

Leila Marshall and Baker did a fabulour job at the Chesapeake Bay Retriever Club Trials in Woodville, August 4-5, 2007. On Saturday, Baker got his WCI, and followed that on Sunday with a second place finish in first Open trial for his final leg for his CDX.

Sky (MOTCH Wimberway's Evening Sky WCX JH CGN RN) Sky got her Master's Obedience Trial Champion today at the Chesapeake Bay Retriever Club of Canada's all breed Obedience Trials, held in Woodville, Ontario! (We needed 5 points and we picked up 6.) Her first Utility qualifier was at the VCKC trials on April 30, 2007, then we did the 2 PADOC trials in Peterborough (and her OTCH), 3 trials in Ottawa, 2 trials in Orono, 2 trials in Kingston, 4 trials in Oshawa (and her OTCHX) and 2 today in Woodville. Sky has been incredibly consistent and she is the greatest little dog!
